The title would have read EVIL,DEVIL,GOOD AND GOD, but no! I'm not finna give the devil a place even in my topic. Yeah! I hate him that much. Although this discussion is somewhat going to be about him, I do not like anything about him. The Holy Scriptures tell us that Satan has many devices and if we are ignorant of them, he would take advantage of us (2 Corinthians 2:11 Paraphrased). I do pray that in this text, you find wisdom that would make for victory over the devil in concerned areas of your life in Jesus Christ Name.
In Genesis 2:17, God gives a clear instruction to man, some times in certain issues of our lives, we might want to say "the instruction wasn't clear so there was a mistake in the process of carrying it out" this one was crystal clear.
Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
So although the woman may not have known and as a result of the lack of that knowledge, she was lured by the devil. But the man knew not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil but went ahead to eat it for some reason. He cannot say he was deceived.(discussion for another day). This here we know to be the fall of man that caused many of the effects we see and experience even today. But before we get caught up in the drama, its important we highlight the very essence of this text.
God said to man "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. We see that God didn't want man to know evil, but more than that, God also didn't want man to know good. God wanted man to know Him(God). That is why when Adam told God that he was hiding because he was naked, God asked him "who told you?" God was saying I didn't tell you you are naked so if you know that you're naked, something has happened to you that didn't come from me. And maybe Someone reading this, has taken on an identity that God didn't give because of the happenings around your life or your past or even present mistakes and failures but freedom is coming for you today in Jesus Christ Name.
Cambridge Dictionary defines Evil as morally bad,cruel, or very unpleasant. Good on the other hand is the direct opposite; or what we know to the absence of Evil. We often tend to associate God with Good and the devil with Evil, but we need to be more conscious of the fact that not everything that is good is of God. One thing you would know about the devil is that he doesn't require loyalty to express control. While you have to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour of your life, Satan the devil doesn't care about your acceptance; you can say 'I do not believe in Jesus and I do not believe in the devil', Satan is fine with that; you are still under his control. You can even say 'Satan I hate you' he's fine with that just go to hell. Now that is a formidable adversary, and understanding the subtlety of the operations of this adversary, both Good and Evil are tools in his hands. For instance, Money is not evil but it can wreck you. Sex is not evil, but it can wreck you. How it worked for Esau was that a pot of pottage traded his destiny. Pottage is food and food is not evil but the absence of evil traded destiny anyway.
And so, if all you know how to do is to look for the devil in evil, he'd defeat you every time. When he is dealing with weak fabrics, he uses evil but when he wants to navigate around some strong fabrics, he uses the absence of evil=good. Anybody can pick out the devil easily in evil since we already have a preconceived notion that that is his habitat(and it is), so evil is weak, Good is the weapon of the future in that it requires a measure of discernment to spot that God is not there. So do not just depend on your Knowledge of what good is and then attempt to factor God in somehow. Rather deepen your knowledge of God through His word and fellowship with His Spirit and Satan will not take advantage of you.
I'll share a story and then i'll leave this keyboard. There was a meeting in hell and spirits were making suggestions on how they would get the souls of men. One said 'tell them that God is not real, and they shouldn't believe in Him', another said 'tell them Jesus doesn't love them and back it with the reality of the problems they experience everyday', and many other suggestions to disrupt the truth we already know. Then the creature sitting as their leader opposed all of those saying that humanity both knows and have experienced the love of God and the proof of his existence and that trying to convince them otherwise would be not so good a strategy. Then comes one last suggestion from another spirit saying "lets tell them the truth: Jesus loves them, God, Heaven, Hell are all real, we would let them believe that Jesus died for them and all the bible says is true. After telling them that, we would tell them they have time and that they can do what they want and that they really shouldn't be in a hurry and while they are living in time and being carried away by the things they see, we can reach and snatch them". ABSENCE OF EVIL, ORCHESTRATED BY THE DEVIL.
... so that we would not be out-witted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs. 2 CORINTHIANS 2:11 (ESV)
